On March 11, 1918 my grandfather, Jay Shetler, was drafted into the US Army. He served as a Mess Sergeant with the 301st Engineers in Flirey, France and in Germany with the Army of Occupation. He was discharged on June 12,1919.
A week from today, 100 years after Jay went into the army I’ll be starting a blog documenting where he was and what he was doing using letters he wrote to my grandmother and many other resources. The posts will appear on my Facebook page but if anyone is interested in following directly, it will appear at WordPress.com as ‘Jay in the Great War’. Feel free to send me your email address if you’d like to receive the posts, I’ll add you to the distribution list.
Looking forward Jim!
